Comstock Park, MI — Dr. John’s Healthy Sweets LLC has opened a 22,000-square-foot production space following a $2.3 million investment in manufacturing, according to company Co-Founder Dr. John Bruinsma. The facility will focus on producing sugarfree lollipops in the company’s signature tooth shape as well as oval pops.

After completely upgrading the building, including new HVAC and plumbing, the sugarfree candymaker installed new boilers, cookers, cooling tables, batch rollers, lollipop forming lines, cooling tunnels and pouch packaging equipment, according to Bruinsma.

He tells Candy & Snack TODAY the new facility is four times larger than the company’s White Pigeon, MI, plant, which will continue operation.

“Since we’ve moved into the new space, we have added 12 jobs and are looking to add on to that hopefully,” Bruinsma says.

Dr. John’s sugarfree portfolio includes pops, hard candies, chocolates, caramels, taffy, gums and mints.
