Oak Brook, IL — Ferrara Candy Co., Inc. has given 10 $5,000 scholarships to children of its employees, the candymaker report, as part of the Ferrara USA Scholarship Program that launched in 2017.

“At the Ferrara Candy Company, we’re committed to ‘Sharing Goodness’ in the communities in which we live and work,” Mike Goldwasser, Ferrara’s chief human resource officer, tells Candy & Snack TODAY. “Our scholarship program supports those local communities by helping deserving children of our employees afford a higher education. For us, it’s an opportunity to invest not only in the well-being of our employees and their families, but also to empower the next generation of leaders.”

He adds the program supports the candymaker’s commitment to improve the lives of our employees, as these scholarships specifically help to reduce the financial liability of higher education.

The merit-based scholarships are given to high school seniors, graduates or current postsecondary undergraduates who are children of domestic, full-time Ferrara employees. Scholarship America, a third-party organization, reviewed each applicants’ participation in community and school activities, work experience, statement of career and educational goals and objectives, outside appraisal, an essay response and academic performance.
