Uzwil, Switzerland — Wafer, biscuits and confectionery production system supplier The Haas Group has been acquired by Bühler Holding AG.

The deal, which is expected to close by the end of the year, completes the acquiring firm’s consumer foods product portfolio, while giving Haas access to Bühler’s global resources including nearly 100 service stations.

“Out of a position of strength, we are entrusting the future of our company to the family-owned Bühler Group,” says Johann Haas, member of the supervisory board. “This allows us to create the best possible conditions for successfully continuing the development of our business, for the benefit of both our customers and our employees.”

The acquisition marks a milestone for Bühler, as it enters the “promising wafer and biscuit production systems” market. Haas employees and its operating bases will not be impacted by the deal, according to the acquiring firm. Germar Wacker, who was recently appointed Haas CEO, will head up the company.

“We operate in the same markets and often serve the same customers, but there is no overlapping of our products and services,” says Bühler CEO Stefan Scheiber. “It is hard to imagine a better basis for successful integration, and we will do everything in our power to generate added value for both our customers and our employees.”
