Dallas — Private investment firm Highlander Partners, L.P. has acquired substantially all assets of Queen City Candy, Inc. (QCC), an Indiana-based manufacturer of pectin- and gelatin-based gummies, jellies and fruit snacks.

This is the latest buy for Highlander in the confectionery space, following its acquisition of 10 candy brands’ intellectual property, trademarks and associated licensing agreements and royalties from Huhtamäk Oyj earlier this year. During the past two years the investment firm also purchased Hillside Candy LLC and Gimbal Brothers, LLC. The latter two manufacturers are managed through Highlander portfolio company Bettera Brands, LLC.

Jeff L. Hull, president and managing partner of Highlander, says: “We believe the opportunity in the gummi confection and vitamin space will continue to grow at a significant rate. QCC offers outstanding manufacturing capabilities, with its cutting-edge manufacturing equipment and unique production abilities. We believe that with Highlander’s resources and in collaboration with Bettera Brands, another Highlander portfolio company, QCC will be able to expand its production offerings and enter new markets, further accelerating the company’s growth.”
