Boulder, CO — Madhava Foods Ltd. has purchased JJ’s Sweets Inc., makers of Cocomels, bringing together two Boulder-based businesses that produce organic products, according to the acquired firm. Additionally, Cocomels are now available in single-serve packs.

The transaction expands distribution and opens growth opportunities for JJ’s Sweets as well as brings more marketing and sales resources to the Cocomels brand, the company reports.

“What we saw in JJ’s Sweets was a passionate, well-run company with like-minded values and an incredible line of Cocomels products,” says Colin Sankey, CEO of Madhava Foods. “Our goal is to enable more people across the country to experience and fall in love with Cocomels, just like we have.”

JJ’s Sweets founder JJ Rademaekers has joined the Madhava team and will maintain his role as “chief candyman.” Cocomels will continue operating in Boulder, the candymaker reports.

“I could not be more thrilled to join the Madhava team. There is a real opportunity to elevate and grow the Cocomels brand. Our thinking has already expanded and the possibilities for the brand are extremely exciting,” says Rademaekers.

In addition to the acquisition, JJ’s Sweets is releasing single-serve, 1.3-ounce bags of Cocomels Sea Salt Coconut Milk Caramels, which the company reports is the leading caramel brand in specialty and natural channels.

The new packaging aims to drive trial for the caramels, which are dairy- and GMO-free and made with organic ingredients, JJ’s Sweets reports.

New 1.3-ounce Cocomels packaging has a SRP of $1.99 and ship six eight-ct trays per case.
