Bethlehem, PA — On August 21, Jennifer Nallo and her family, of Westminster, MD, became the first member of the public to receive a tour of a Peeps factory as part of her prize package from the Peeps Helping Peeps campaign, a partnership between Just Born Inc. and United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley (UWGLV).
“This was a dream come true,” Nallo said during the tour. “As a lifelong Peeps fan, I was thrilled to be able to share this once-in-a-lifetime experience with my family. It was something that we’ll never forget.”
Nallo is known as a huge fan of the brand, and has entered the famous Carroll County Peeps Show diorama contest many times, according to the candymaker.
Consumers entering the sweepstakes were encouraged to donate $5 or more to UWGLV and $70,000 were raised. The funds will be used to support community schools, according to the company.
“Although we’ve had many requests and lots of fans show up at our doors over the years, the Peeps factory has never been open to the public,” says Matt Pye, senior vice-president of sales and marketing at Just Born. “We couldn’t think of a better reason to open our doors for the first time than by teaming up with our local United Way to help give back to the community that Peeps calls home.”
