Glendale, CA — The culmination of one of Laffy Taffy’s largest initiatives in 50 years, the brand has named comedian Richard Bowen its first chief laugh officer (CLO), bringing with it a $10,000 cash prize and the chance to collaborate in creating the iconic jokes printed on the chewy candy’s wrappers.

In searching for a CLO, the brand turned to consumers, asking them to submit a video of their best stand-up comedy routine as well as three original jokes. After reviewing nearly 100 submissions, Laffy Taffy and consumers selected Bowen, Joanna Goslin and Talib Babb as the finalist. All three were flown out to LA to perform at the Hollywood Laugh Factory for a chance to win the position.

As part of the search, Laffy Taffy teamed with entertainer Nick Cannon, who hosted the Laugh Factory event.

“The competition was packed with talent, from the finalists to all other comedians that performed on that stage,” Cannon says. “I really loved seeing Laffy Taffy bring everyone together not only for a good night of comedy, but also to support these comedians and their craft.”
