Raleigh, NC — Mark Lozano is the new vice-president North American operations for Carle & Montanari-OPM, which provides solutions for the processing, moulding and packaging of chocolate. Earlier this year the company combined its Carle & Montanari-OPM and CM-FIMA groups into the new SACMI Packaging & Chocolate Division, facilitating the need to establish the position being filled by Lozano, according to the Italy-based company.
The new division, the company states, is the culmination of a process that began in 2002 when SACMI acquired Carle & Montanari, and includes four business units – process and moulding, primary packaging, secondary packaging, and wrapping. “The establishment of the division and its clear subdivision according to type of business,” explains SACMI Packaging & Chocolate CEO Giovanni Campolungo, “provide answers to our need to be present in a more widespread and structured way in each of the business areas and our wish to confirm SACMI Group’s strong commitment to this sector, allowing these companies, fully controlled by SACMI, to improve their position in the global network.”
In accepting the position, Lozano states: “I’m thrilled to be joining a company with such a proud history of innovation and service in the confectionery industry. I have spent my career in the processing and packaging industry and have a passion for customer service. I’m looking forward to building a team with that same passion as we grow the Carle & Montanari-OPM business in North America.”
Lozano adds his appointment reflects the company’s desire to better serve its North American customers. “Customer relationships will be the focus in the marketplace, and a team will be assembled to ensure Carle & Montanari-OPM can quickly respond to customer needs,” he tells Candy & Snack TODAY.
A lead initiative, says Lozano, is expansion of the U.S. sales and service teams. “In the past, customers had to wait for service teams to travel from Europe, but with technicians based in the U.S. we will be able to address service needs in a more timely manner.”
Lozano brings nearly 35 years of food packaging and processing equipment experience to the position. Most recently he was group sales manager, confection global, for TNA North America, Inc., and was instrumental in the company’s acquisition of the NID brand. He spent 13 years with the company first as national sales manager before being appointed divisional sales manager.
He also worked in sales and sales management positions at Delta Systems, Inc., Rose Forgrove, Inc., Robert Bosch Packaging Machinery, Skinetta Pac-Systems, Key Technology and Paxall, Pak-Master Machinery.
The company also states Lozano has extensive experience working with European-owned companies and brings a unique entrepreneurial mindset to his new position.
He will continue to be based in the Dallas area and report directly to Milan-based Rocco Furone. C&ST
