Hackettstown, NJ — Mars Wrigley Confectionery U.S. LLC will base its U.S. headquarters in New Jersey, using existing offices in Hackettstown and newly constructed space in Newark, the candymaker reports.
Mars Wrigley’s global headquarters will remain in Chicago and the transition to the new U.S. offices is expected to be complete by July 2020.
The company reports approximately 1,500 employees will work out of the two New Jersey offices. This builds on the already 55,000 people employed by U.S. candymakers, according to NCA’s Power of Sweet. Additionally, for every one job created by the industry, seven more are supported in related industries. Overall, more than 400,000 jobs rely in part on U.S. candy manufacturing.
“Mars is proud to have a strong legacy and future across both New Jersey and Illinois,” says Berta de Pablos Barbier, president of Mars Wrigley Confections U.S. “Expanding in New Jersey will enable the continued growth of our U.S. business. We are fully committed to working with all of our associates to support them through this transition.”
While the confectionery division is moving its U.S. headquarters, Chicago will remain the operating base of Mars Foods U.S., according to the company.
