Randolph, MA — Joe and Gary Melville, owners of Melville Candy Corp., were honored with a Small Business Person of the Year award for Massachusetts, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
The winners from each state as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico are invited to attend ceremonies in Washington, DC, during late April to receive their individual awards. Additionally, the 2018 National Small Business Person of the Year will be announced at the event.
“These small business owners define entrepreneurial spirit and best represent the 30 million small businesses that are the backbone and economic engine of our economy,” says Linda McMahon, SBA administrator. “I look forward to welcoming the winners to Washington next month when they are officially honored for their achievements.”
Since 1963, the president has issued proclamations calling for the celebration of National Small Business week, which is typically held during the first week of May, according to SBA.
