Washington, DC — Earlier today NCA’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved a recommendation by the Executive Committee to cancel the 2020 Sweets & Snacks Expo.
In a statement to the industry, NCA President & CEO John Downs said: “Of course, we are disappointed not to be able to offer the experience, inspiration, insights and connections so many in our community have come to rely on in association with the event, but the health and welfare of our community is our top priority. As restrictions and recommendations on mass gatherings continue to build in cities and states across the country, including those issued in the state of Illinois and in guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it became clear that cancellation of the show was the only path forward to protect the well-being of our community.”
The event was scheduled to take place May 18 to 21, in Chicago at McCormick Place.
The Association is currently working on resources to provide specific details about the refund or rollover of registration and booth fees and notes information will be available in the near future. It also offered an online resource to address common questions.
In addition, NCA will maintain its distance learning series, Sweet Insights Unwrapped, with programs scheduled through August and is exploring other opportunities to bring value to the industry in light of the current situation.
