Union, NJ — Smarties Candy Co. has named Jessica Dee Sawyer, Sarah Dee and Liz Dee co-presidents.
Representing the third generation of the family to run the business, they are replacing Jonathan Dee.
The three women have worked for the company for more than a decade, most recently serving as executive vice-president. They have lead high-impact initiatives at the candymaker such as improvements to infrastructure, investing in solar energy, developing a strong digital presence and product innovations. Additionally, the company is planning further infrastructure investments for its two factories.
“It has been a honor to serve the family business for four decades, and I couldn’t be more proud to hand the reins over to the next generation,” Jonathan Dee says. “Sarah, Jessica and Liz bring a myriad of skill sets and talents that will uniquely contribute to the success of Smarties Candy Company.”
The candymaker is also introducing the #LittleSmarties campaign, which aims to champion intellectual curiosity at every age. As part of the program, the company is partnering with influential bloggers and providing DIY Halloween costume instructions of “smarties” throughout history.
Further, the company is continuing its “Smarties Think” initiative, a partnership with donorschoose.org to support classrooms in need with matching grants of $25,000 annually. To date, Smarties has donated $125,000 through the program.
