Nominations Open For NCA Ruby Award Recognizing Supplier Innovation


Washington — NCA is accepting nominations for the 2020 Ruby Award For Supplier Innovation, which recognizes companies for advancements that significantly improve the ability of confectioners to manufacture, distribute, market and/or sell chocolate and candy. Products and services developed exclusively for a single company are not eligible for nomination, the Association reports, adds that self nominations are encouraged.

“Throughout this country — and all around the world — our supplier community is creating products that enhance confectionery manufacturing and sales. New packaging concepts, mechanical inventions, ingredient and flavor technologies all contribute to what makes our category fun and unique,” notes NCA President & CEO John Downs.

Nominations will be accepted until March 27.

A panel of NCA manufacturing member companies will select the recipients and the winner will be announced at the 2020 Sweets & Snacks Expo.

Examples of eligible innovations include, but are not limited to ingredients including those that deliver new or exciting tastes of sensory experiences, alter the nutritional profile of a product or otherwise improve an item’s quality; equipment that enhances efficiency of effectiveness in candy manufacturing or the supply chain; materials or packaging that support retail merchandising and display objectives or that contribute to environmental sustainability; and services that enhance collaboration between trading partners, facilitate efficiency of supply chain or improve the ability to market and sell confectionery products.
