London — Worldwide sales for organic snacks are anticipated to increase 12 percent, compounded annually, between 2018 and 2022, according to market research company Technavio.
Preferences of younger consumers and product claims such as no artificial sweeteners and flavors are expected to drive the market moving forward, the research company reports.
During 2017, prepared snacks led the market with more than a 34 percent share, followed by bars and nuts, salty snacks and fruit snacks, respectively. However, Technavio reports bars and nuts are expected to register the highest incremental growth during the forecast period, followed by salty and fruit snacks, respectively.
Given its ability to cover a wider consumer base than brick-and-mortar locations, ecommerce is anticipated to play a large role in organic snack sales moving forward as more manufacturers move to use online sales platforms, according to Technavio.
