Chicago — Helping last-minute gift-givers this Valentine’s Day, Russell Stover Chocolates is deploying its “Valentine’s Day SOS van” on Chicago’s Richard J. Daley Plaza to give away product and coupons during the holiday, the company reports.
Brand ambassadors will be giving out free 14-ounce heart-shaped boxes of chocolate and dollar off coupons redeemable at Walgreen Co. locations throughout the city. The promotion is being supported with a paid social media campaign and mainstream media relations to drive traffic to the plaza, which was selected because of its highly visible location and close proximity to a dozen Walgreen locations, according to Russell Stover.
“No one wants to disappoint their special someone by showing up empty-handed on Valentine’s Day, but life can be hectic and people sometimes forget. To rescue folks from their gift-givingemergencies, the Russell Stover Chocolates team and our Valentine’s Day SOS Van will be at the ready,” says Hilary Butler, Russell Stover Chocolates brand manager. “When it comes to Valentine’s Day gifting, there’s just no substitute for the iconic Russell Stover heart-shaped box of chocolates.”
During Valentine’s Day, an estimated 70 million U.S. consumers will give chocolate or candy, and 94 percent of Americans say they want to receive such a gift, according to NCA.
