San Francisco — See’s Candies, Inc. plans to open seven new shops by the end of 2017, seeking space in strip malls and lifestyle centers to meet the changing shopping patterns of consumers, the company reports. By year-end, the candy maker is expected to open nearly a dozen new or relocated shops, adding to its 240-plus locations in the U.S., including its first shop in New York City.
“We listened to our customers who were not only looking for new locations to buy our 100-plus varieties of chocolates and candies, but to experience the welcoming service and of course complimentary samples we’re known and loved for,” says See’s CEO and President Brad Kinstler.
The new and relocated California shops include locations in San Jose, Castro Valley, Manhattan Beach, Paso Robles, Laguna Hills, Glendale and Calabasas. These are in addition to the first New York City shop that opened earlier this year in Greenwich Village.
“When deciding where to focus our new retail shop locations, it was important for us to see where customer demand was and many of our new and relocated stores are in convenient locations in outdoor malls and strip centers where our consumers are shopping these days,” explains Ann Ostrander, senior vice-president of sales.
“In this time of uncertainty for many brick and mortar retailers, we’re very excited to be growing and expanding our retail presence throughout California, as we also look to add retail locations in the other states,” she adds.
