Union, NJ — Smarties Candy Co. has given $25,000 for classroom projects being presented at donorschoose.org as part of the company’s Smarties Think! initiative.

The funds will be used to purchase much needed materials and experiences for students in more than 100 public school classrooms, the candymaker reports.

“My grandfather, Smarties Candy Company founder Edward Dee, chose the name Smarties because he wanted to encourage students to be smart, and we are thrilled to fulfill his noble intention by supporting classrooms in need,” says Liz Dee, executive vice-president.

Since debuting Smarties Think! in 2013, the company has donated some $100,000 to provide school supplies through donorschoose.org.
