Eden Prairie, MN — More than 3,000 independently owned retail stores supplied by Supervalu, Inc. will begin offering online shopping and delivery services in more than 240 metro areas following an agreement between the retailer and Instacart, an ecommerce and delivery platform.
Instacart offers same-day grocery delivery and in-store pickup services, and uses personal shoppers to select and deliver products in as little as one hour, according to the ecommerce company.
“Consumers today want the ability to shop for food and groceries anytime and anywhere,” says Tom Kraus, vice-president of digital for Supervalu. “Instacart allows retailers to meet customers when and where they want to buy.”
The ecommerce company notes the retailer will now be able to service more consumers, more often, without point-of-sale integrations or additional labor costs.
