Washington — The World Cocoa Foundation’s (WCF) board of directors has named Richard Scobey the organization’s next president, effective July 11. He succeeds Bill Guyton, who stepped down from the role in December 2015.
Scobey previously worked at the World Bank leading public-private efforts focused on natural resources management in Africa, as well as monitoring and evaluation efforts, WCF reports. He joined the international financial institution in 1986, and has served as advisor to its Africa region vice-president and as director of regional integration in Africa.
Barry Parkin, WCF chairman, says: “Rick is a strategic and innovative leader who brings to WCF extensive experience in international and community development. His proven ability to make partnerships, leverage networks and achieve impact will boost WCF’s mission to achieve sustainability in the cocoa sector, namely through our CocoaAction strategy.”
